IMG_9065 (2)Olives and Bananas Wool Shop opened on October 17th, 2017 in the Waterfront Business District of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Located at 49 Cumberland Street South near the intersection of Pearl Street and Water Street, we’re just a block away from Prince Arthur’s Landing (Thunder Bay’s waterfront park) and surrounded by a variety of incredible restaurants and local businesses.IMG_9509The shop is put together using second hand upcycled furniture all painted using chalk paint (available at Superior Coating Thunder Bay). The vision for the shop was to be light, bright, and full of colour. The location couldn’t be better with three large west facing windows offering constant indirect light. Previously a hair salon (moved to a new location 50 paces away) the space was already equipped with plumbing, making adding sink in the workshop corner an affordable new business option (for wet felting and dyeing workshops).IMG_9069The wool shop offers the best in quality wool yarn, roving, and special fibres. Merino and alpaca yarn, indie dyed yarn, Canadian producers, art yarn, hand spun, and local fibre including yarn from Mosquito Ridge Farm, Hilltop Oasis Alpacas, Firefly Fibre Arts, Roses’n’Purls, and locally produced products for stitchers from Made By Meag, Be Natural Pottery, with more area artisan products coming soon.

Find the best yarns here from Malabrigo, Rowan, Fleece Artist, Briggs & Little, Cascade, Louet, Diamond, Berroco, Noro, Araucania, Mineville, Spun Right Round, Rhichard Devrieze, Hand Maiden, Debbie Bliss, Madeline Tosh, Ella Rae, and so much more.IMG_9047 (1)IMG_9502

  1. thank you for all the info on this new wool store, I live in Thunder Bay and this is the first I have heard of this, will have to run over there and check it out. We now have two wool shops here. I will never get to the end of my stash!
